Pro-tip - don't extend your pictures with slop. It's entirely unnecessary and makes the image look terrible.

Is there something going on in the background of the tortoise photo?

[–] HikingVet@lemmy.ca 18 points 6 months ago

Looks like 2 other tortoises are having a time. If this isn't a fabrication.

[–] ytsedude@lemmy.world -5 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Yes. It's called this is an AI image.

[–] Nima@leminal.space 27 points 6 months ago (2 children)

look more closely. it isn't. it's a photo with a narrow resolution that someone tried to upscale (poorly) to a higher, wider one.

it probably used ai to predict colors badly. but the photo in the middle is real.

[–] 0ops@piefed.zip 1 points 6 months ago

Yeah with those strong vertical lines it isn't ai, not entirely, but some kind of composition

It could be, but there is a capybara known for riding on tortoises: https://youtu.be/WJQQGyvGQxM

Buddy cop movie: Capybara and Quokka

[–] EtherWhack@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago

Quokka: Wow! That was a crazy firefight. but at least I made it out unscathed.

Capybara: Hey. Have you seen the hostage we were reacuing?

Quokka: ...

How could they be effective cops if they don't use hate and violence to oppress the citizens?

[–] lordnikon@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Buddy EMTs would be an awesome movie

[–] MeatPilot@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Now all I picture is the capybara and quokka having an exchange after a train hits a school bus full of children.

"I don't know if I can do this job anymore Capy. I have constant nightmares and Mrs. Quokka doesn't understand why I'm not able to get it up in bed anymore. You know how difficult it is to get a hard-on with those images in your mind man?

That little girl was just screaming with the skin ripped off her fucking face. The rest of them were so mangled we couldn't even figure out what limb belonged to who. Sometimes I just feel like the fucking grim reaper, you know? Sending souls off into the afterlife."

Quokka takes a long drag...

Too much gore for the kiddies. EMT stories are only good if you got really gnarly scenes to respond to.

Maybe they have to venture out into the world to recover the crystal of time, or, like, mint condition 1972 Kenner Spock in box, or something. Or just go out for sandwiches. I mean . . . I'd watch it.

A buddy adventure movie in which they try to make one new friend. It's incredibly challenging for them because they're already friends with most everyone they come across.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

That's the one!

I met one at a petting zoo, sat on the ground, and it crawled up into my lap like a cat. I died.

[–] zedgeist@lemmy.world 11 points 6 months ago

Excuse me, sir, but your rodent-dog appears to be made out of coconut.

Someone needs to domesticate the capybara

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 3 points 6 months ago

I want one.

[–] Munkisquisher@lemmy.nz 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

They are social in family groups, but fight between each other to sort out a hierarchy. It can get bad for the weak ones that get picked on

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 6 months ago

Ever own multiple cats? They figure it out pretty quickly, then it's all good.

You may have to protect the runt, though. I did that with our cats. I made sure to pick up the runt every day and give her special attention in front of the other cats (5 total, at the peak, only one left now).

You could tell the other cats got the message, they would literally look at each other like "Are you seeing this shit?" But they realized that she had as much value to the humans as all the rest of them, so they left her alone.

They look bristly instead of soft. That would be a major marketing barrier to conquer. People like fluffy. I still want one, though.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 5 points 6 months ago

Be the Capybara.
