No surprise. What Israel is demanding is the release of all the hostages, at which point Hamas has no leverage against a state that has repeatedly demonstrated that they want to obliterate the Palestinians.

Cool. We should probably stop sending weapons to Israel then.

Don't they think that Hamas only has like 100 hostages left? So basically Hamas should give up all their real leverage for (possibly) 8 weeks of ceasefire while the Israelis prepare to renew their razing of all of Gaza, and steal 15% of all the land in Gaza for a 'buffer zone' that should be located in Israeli land, and Israeli civilians and settlers continue to make life miserable and untenable in the West Bank and elsewhere? Sounds like a great deal. /s

Fucking murderous genocidal bastards.

A rounding error is the difference between an actual value and the value when rounded to the nearest whole integer. Like, when 1.25 gets rounded to just 1, the "lost" .25 is a rounding error.

21.6 / 8367 = 0.00258157046 . That's roughly 1/4 of one percent. That's a rounding error.

For context: the border between Israel and Gaza is 36 miles long. 1 kilometer is (roughly) 0.6 miles. And they're creating this 'buffer zone' on Gazan land.

Alright, so 36 miles long times 0.6 miles wide - they want to steal 21.6 square miles of Gazan territory (in addition to all the other killing and looting they're doing). The entirety of Gaza is only 140.9 square miles, so they're talking about essentially stealing 15% of all Gazan land here.

Fuck Israel. They want a buffer zone, build it on their own fucking land. They already have over 8367 square miles, 21 square miles is literally just a rounding error to them.

This episode of the New York Times' The Daily goes over the various nuances of the international law, the obligations and responsibilities of various nations / states / actors, etc. And it doesn't matter if Israel agrees with it or not, they are absolutely subject to the obligation to protect civilians.

Israel’s goal was to create a buffer of up to roughly six-tenths of a mile along the entire length of Israel’s roughly 36-mile border with Gaza.

They're probably trading it for military supplies.

they have never made a distinction between their own soldiers and civilians.

I don't see why you think that's a problem - Israel has certainly never made a distinction between Hamas soldiers and Palestinian civilians when they bomb them or slaughter them in the street or fire at them when aid is being given out.

No, it's genius, see? You take their stuff to boost the treasury, then you criminalize homelessness. Once they're in prison, you recruit them for the meatgrinder at the front, so you're getting new soldiers too! /s

I don't see why they continue to give weapons to Israel. Just cut them off.
