The FDA is happy to regulate clothing, but has zero interest in regulating supplements. For the record, there's plenty of evidence of these unregulated supplements causing actual illness and harm.

Not the FDA’s fault. Blame the US Congress for that. Long ago they passed legislation forbidding the FDA from regulating supplements.

The Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 reclassified supplements as food rather than drugs, if anyone's interested. This allowed Herbalife to swoop in and sell unregulated supplements through their MLM which made at least a few people I know sick.

So, considering that the root of the FDA's claim is that chest binders alleviate gender dysphoria, can we expect them to send similar warnings to manufacturers of skirts and baggy cargo shorts?

Wouldn't this rationale be equally applicable to a push up bra? Or really literally any garment that makes you look closer to the ideal of whatever gender you are? Like I bet there are plenty of cis men that would love to smooth their man boobs down so they look more like the ideal image of a man and numerous women that want to push up their little boobies into something that looks more "womanly" isn't that gender affirming care too?

[–] Wytch@lemmy.zip 25 points 2 months ago

Gender affirming care will only be restricted to products and procedures that threaten fragile cis male egos. Minoxidil for example will continue to be made available for men because it upholds the status quo.

Irony, reason, and fairness do not factor into the fascist world view. The men you're referring to with body image issues are going to be expected to conform to Pete Hegseth's totally not gay standards of male appearance.

ah but you see these would make men's pps go hard for people with uteruses so they can pop out the new masterrace not "sex-rejecting" degenerates that only make men horny and confused since how will they live without being able to inseminate barely pubescent girls like it's the ritual for the pedophile party?

or worse still "healthy girls" that dare to reject their god appointed goal of having babies by "mutilating" their bodies (ie Irreversible Damage) will not be able to contribute to the expansion of the master race and then the "great replacement" theory will finally occur in its full effect and the white race will be no more...

History will record that the collapse of the US began in earnest when the Trump presidency reaulted in the rise to power of insane morons.

And millions of supposedly more intelligent people in “the resistance” who somehow can’t figure out how to outmaneuver them.

I never want to hear another word about how “stupid” the US right wing is again.
