Random stats, pick class based on that come up with a one or two sentence background, ask gm how much gold/points/credits i can spent on starting equipment and if there are any restrictions they have in mind for my background.

my last solo characters were an ex townsguard who helped his brother escape from prison, after his recruitment job for a local gang went side ways, so they fled the town and are now trying the adventurers live.

i think i'd be fine with also randomizing equipment and then coming up with a background, but i'd hate to fully randomize a character and end up with a line cook who owns nothing but a fancy suit and roller skates for some reason.

I love build options so lean away from random and love when I can choose things myself. I have a bit of power game tendencies when I build but I also like role playing a lot so as my character comes together the background starts to form. Many times I will be like. If this character is this then the background should be like this. In the end I will make a strong build but will sacrifice complete min maxing for rpg purposes. I also tend to prefer not exactly jack of all trades but I like a broad spectrum so that sorta keeps the min/max at bay.

I like semi random. Which is to say, I love the random elements being talked about in the blog post, but I prefer to have some control over my narrative and story. I'm happy to take random stats, random class, random equipment etc, but I like to shape theb personality and history of character behind all of that, the stuff that glues the numbers together. Even that doesn't need to be complete control. As long as I'm not just playing someone else's out of the box character, I'm happy
