Is this the same as watching your own poop flush down the toilet?

I'm glad you got the side-rolling one. There's models that roll front-to-back and have a tendency to decapitate cats that get too curious, or trap them in the wastebin underneath. The side-rolling ones are much safer.

Jesus. How ridiculously overpowered is the engine to be able to decapitate an animal?

And then something moves and both scatter in random directions, knocking things down.

It was moving at the time of the photo. They poop, it turns over, and these two are utterly mesmerized by it.

They'll come tearing ass from another room if they hear it just to watch.

My orange does that with the robot vacuum. The other cats ignore it, or move to where it can't get to, but he has to watch it, even though it does the same thing it always does. Shiny thing.

My robot vacuum would skip patches because the orange doofus would sit in front of it.

My gremlin Comet is the same. Once it starts running he bolts over to play in it! We only let it run once a day so we can guard the thing from him so it can run in peace.

Still beats cleaning it by hand!

My cats are like that except instead of an automated litter box they're curious about, it's me in the bathroom. If I don't close and latch the door all the way, they'll push the door open and barge their way in.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN HERE???!

[–] qupada@fedia.io 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

If he makes it into the bathroom, my (void) will put his paws on the seat between my legs and try to headbutt me in the nose while I'm pooping.

Like dude, I try to even avoid eye contact with you when you're in YOUR toilet, don't I deserve the same respect?

Cats truly are assholes. They're lucky they're so damn adorable.

We loved our robot until our 5 cats, with 3 boxes and 1 robot, would all use the robot only, causing it to jam or error out due to pee weight or cats interrupting it.

It was either another $1k litter box or back to normal litter trays.

Trays was the final decision.

I researched the hell out of these things for about a week before I ultimately decided I'd just scoop. Everyone we told we were getting 2 cats said we needed one.

After reading about the longevity and the maintenance I couldn't justify the cost for something that will save me about 20 minutes a day.

For us it’s not just saving time; it’s preventing prissy cats from going somewhere we don’t want them to go because one of the others used the box and now it’s “too icky.” When the somewhere we don’t want is often the bed or even my pillow, it’s worth it.

[–] GroundedGator@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

That would definitely be a different consideration.

[–] proudblond@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

The things we put up with, amirite? She’s stupid adorable though

[–] AltheaHunter@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 4 months ago

I don't wanna use a toilet that hasn't been flushed either tbh. It is icky.

That’s a portal into another dimension. Your cats are space travellers.
