It's just part and parcel with caustic masculinity. If you don't want to be competitive and treat other human beings like meatbags then you're uncomfortable and weird.

Assignment at birth is based on genitalia/sex. Sometimes doctors fuck that up too, intersex or no. I personally don't see a point in it either.

It's reductive to think there's a correct gender at birth or that it could be reliably assigned as it often has little to do with what's in your pants. E.g. you're probably not experiencing gender dysphoria in the first couple years of life, because babies are treated pretty much the same regardless.

When you grow up in a rigid world you come to rely on the rules as the foundation you build your beliefs on.

When that foundation starts to crack because it was built on unstable ground you either fight it and attempt to patch it, praying the ground will eventually settle for the last time or you accept the fault and rebuild on solid ground.

Then if your neighbors are doing the same thing you have a community running around patching each others foundations. Many hands make light work of hate.

It's a question of how emotionally invested in that foundation you are. At what point does the ever increasing maintenance cost more than building new? Does the community make it cheap and easy enough that starting over seems pointless? Or does the community make starting over prohibitively expensive?

No empathy for them here. Its just to say there is a twisted logic in it, at least for those who hold the least power in that structure. I'll never understand the behaviors of the powerful.

I agree completely!

Tap for spoilerI assume you're just adding context because I don't believe dialogue has clashing ideas any longer

Ah yeah i see. A roll skips you having to sort through character sheets introducing a silent pause in the narrative to determine whether a check passively succeeds.

I was a little confused by talk of character sheets because the players have them right there and they should be carbon copy with what the dm has.

I meant that for checks as the DM you can save time by relying on players who you can trust to know the game and be honest, rolled or passive. I argue that a DM that asks for my stats has not yet been any less immersive for me. It takes a split second and I'll take it over railroading every time.

I agree. In casual play you can rely on veteran players to know their stats. If they're the type to lie intentionally then they can leave the table. If they're making mistakes then maybe something goes a little too easily, oh well. The best DMs i had didn't give a shit and focused on rewarding players for learning.

My experience is that it's generally worse when in the milieu of an institution (e.g. university, larger orgs) or anywhere power imbalance is structural. That there are more examples of good in independent spaces.

I'm not much of a gender expressionist so maybe it doesn't translate to a transmasc exp.

Yessss!!!

In your haste to investigate the desk you fling open the desk's drawer to find it empty except a small stain of blood. Upon further inspection you notice a dagger shaped letter opener protruding from your thigh. The blood stain is related. You take one piercing damage.
