I wonder if part of the reason Western nations are "struggling" to use the funds in Ukraine is that this would reduce the need for Ukraine to accept bilateral aid from them.

Later in the day, some farmers managed to get inside the market complex. Police arrested dozens, taking the total number arrested at Rungis on Wednesday to 79.

Many of thesewere arrested for breaking and entering/trespassing, not for obstructing the road. It isn't clear from the article how many if any were arrested for the road block.

When groups like Extinction Rebellion block the roads it's wrong, but when farmers do it it's ok?

It wasn't the criticism of Russia that's leading to this, it's playing without a licence. It's somewhat similar to the classic "if you're going to break the law, only break one at a time".

But what were the arguments presented to the court??

This will indeed be an interesting test. I'm sure Thailand doesn't want to piss off Russia, not when Russian tourists have been boosting their economy recently. However their human rights obligations should trump that.

The irony of him trying to subvert the German constitution is that he loses all of his own constitutional protection.

Stripped, Beaten or Vanished

Or?

[–] TWeaK@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago

Yes exactly. What I'm saying is that the Israeli state needs to be disbanded, the Palestinian state needs to be disbanded, and a neutral state needs to be set up in their place that only cautiously allows their citizen's return.

That would be the ideal solution, but actually making that happen is prohibitively complex.

Yeah the problem with the idea is how to make it work - especially when both groups hold religious significance to the area.

I think maybe some kind of relocation, but with passports that grant them permission to travel to the religious city of Jerusalem. The region itself must be carefully managed as a tourist destination for all nationalities and religions. Then over time people may be allowed to settle back there.

Leadership and governments. I agree that there are civilians who are completely against the war. Many Israelis don't feel like they can speak out right now, because of the noisy ones foaming at the mouth.
