I always felt so bad for my dog when I had to go to fly in/camp jobs. I wished I could explain to her why I’d be gone for 3 weeks or so and that it wasn’t her fault and that I would be back. She was always so excited to see me though.
Pretty close to how my wife convinced me to get our second cat. Like a week of guilting me and talking about how this cat she met at the cat store was so adorable and was the runt and in this small cage all by herself all day every day and how nobody would come get her and blah blah blah
So now we have two cats when the amount I originally wanted was zero and that is the exact face I make every day when the cat is rolling around on my lap when I’m trying to watch tv.

Yep, same. I’m willing to pay the price of no more children in media, and I’m absolutely flabbergasted that most people are like “BUT I CANT WATCH MY SHOWS IF THERES NO KIDS IN THEM!”
Then watch an animated movie or read a book for fucks sake.
I think it’s totally acceptable with the technology we have that if your media absolutely needs a child in it you can use animation with voice actors, or whatever you have to do. The cost of child labourers and how they’re treated in Hollywood and it’s monstrous, and if the only alternative is that we shouldn’t have media with live child actors in it anymore then that’s how it has to be.
Hot take: child actors should be illegal.
We actually did that with a Paladin player being assigned to watch my rogue who started the game in prison during the mission from the monarchy that would earn him his freedom. He was also a fantastic coward and incredibly greedy and the Paladin often found himself having to be in between the rogue and an angry mob and having to do some ridiculous mental gymnastics to figure out how saving me wouldn’t break his oath.
