As cute looking as they are ... squirrels are known to be omnivorous .. meaning they do eat meat and can hunt smaller animals. This is like watching a bear next to a wolf ... if the bear had the chance, it would attack the wolf and eat it.

In hindsight I could have known that, given that the two chipmunks from my primary source of information about the species routinely hang out with mice...
To be fair, cartoons don't tend to have very realistic scales of size. Like, cats weren't that much bigger than the Rescue Rangers in that show.
That squirrel's nutsack is almost as big as the whole chipmunk 😳
