TranscriptionA picture of two orange kittens, both squinting and giving “stink eye.” The caption reads “I gave my cats a bath and they've been looking at me like this all day... Should I be scared?”

If they weren't orange, you'd be in trouble. But what looks like planning a murder is just them trying to get the single shared brain cell of theirs synced up again.

[–] Devjavu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 4 months ago (1 children)

They would plan a murder, if only they could.

[–] stupidcasey@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Cats are exclusively capable of murder.

[–] veniasilente@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 4 months ago (1 children)

And orange cats, mutually exclusively!

[–] stupidcasey@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Look at that face and tell me they wouldn't re-inact ancient Egypt law if they could.

[–] veniasilente@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 4 months ago

...well, they'd do it in turns! Participation for everyone!

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 months ago

Not really planning in the case of orange brain cells like these two, though; it's usually more of a spontaneous murder

Cat owners should learn the Feline Grimace Scale. It’s a way for vets to get a rough measure of how much pain a cat is in:

I mention this because the kitten on the right would probably score a 3 or a 4, which is right on the threshold for when a vet would consider administering painkillers and/or looking into the causes more closely. Certain shampoos can be extremely harmful to cats. Since cats lick themselves clean, they’ll ingest anything you put on their fur. Including shampoos or hair products. And there are countless examples of cats going into organ failure, seizing, vomiting/shitting all over the house, etc after being bathed with harmful “pet safe” products… Just because the product is safe for their skin doesn’t mean it’s safe for them to ingest.

Also, oddly enough, this obviously AI article was one of the top results when I searched for shampoo toxicity in cats. I’m only linking it because the article is a fucking wild read, which only gets wilder as the AI hallucinates more and more.

Firstly, great guide image at the top there. Very useful, thank you :)

Secondly, that AI slop article is hilarious.

"Cut the shampoo into manageable portions" :D

I too enjoy the crunchy texture of shampoo. Never thought of grating it though, I definitely should try that. Variety is the spice of life after all and the spice must flow.

They look chill as fuck. That clean feeling

[–] fakeman_pretendname@feddit.uk 15 points 4 months ago

Did you give them a "human-style bath" with a bowl of water and soapy stuff, or did you give them a "cat-style bath" by licking them clean with your tongue?

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 14 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

You know we’re self-cleaning, right?

[–] Iunnrais@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

Exceptions apply, such as after accidentally getting out and taking a tour through the local storm drain. This one happened to my boy. Wasn’t fun for any of us.

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 14 points 4 months ago (1 children)

They are going to murder you in your sleep.

[–] blave@lemmy.world 10 points 4 months ago

Or in your awake

[–] the_q@lemmy.zip 10 points 4 months ago (3 children)

Giving cats a bath is redundant and they know that.

[–] NuXCOM_90Percent@lemmy.zip 18 points 4 months ago

It is until it isn't.

Everyone should bathe their kitties at least once or twice just so that they know what that is. Then you do not do it again until they are adults covered in the blood of their enemies and tracking it all over the house.

[–] IamSparticles@lemmy.zip 16 points 4 months ago

That very much depends on the cat and the type of coat they have. Some coat types have a tendency to get very compacted and/or matted if they aren't bathed regularly to loosen the shed hair. Some cats are unable to properly self-groom and need regular bathing. Sometimes a cat gets into something really nasty and letting them self-groom could make them very sick.

It is too late to be scared. Enjoy an other breath while you still can.

[–] Brian437@lemmy.world 7 points 4 months ago

You got 24 hours to live

[–] Tikiporch@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago

They're cold. I know my dog appreciates a cozy sweater after the bath (she told me), but I usually do two because the first one can sometimes be a little damp.

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago

You done goofed there mate.

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 2 points 4 months ago

They’ll remember this and, from now on, be a little less trusting

[–] humorlessrepost@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

If this were real, I’d say you probably got soap in their eyes.
