The founding emblem of the Houthis says:

"God is the Greatest, Death to America, Death to Israel, Cursed be the Jews, Victory to Islam"

Basically the same as Hamas. But yeah let's keep calling them "rebels" just like we call Hamas' terrorists "militants".

You have to play by the lemmy meta, they are not the bad guys here apparently...

While I support palestine, Hamas is bad.

They did bad things but what matters is context.

You have to start from 1907 if you want to understand the context.

I support a free Palestine and a free Israel and I also condemn the actions of both of them! And I understand the context very well, also you got to go far further than 1907.

If you already digged that deep you know for fact that it was called Palestine buddy.

If you support Israel then be consistent and support Russia taking part of Ukraine as well.

I stand for Palestine to be free and Ukraine to be free as well.

You know why it's called Palestine? Because the Romans kicked all the Jews out and to add insult to injury, they renamed it that way.

Good point! They used to live there.

Does this imply Russia did nothing wrong by taking Crimea? Because it used to be theirs as well not long ago.

So are you referencing history or trying to twist it into your own agenda? Sounds like it's the latter.

That looks like history to me. I present facts.

My point is double standards exists.

If you think double standards doesn’t exist in Palestine-Israel conflict then present facts to support your claim.

[–] DoomBot5@lemmy.world -1 points 2 years ago

Oh double standards exist. Israel is subjected to many of them on the regular.

I'm an atheist but since they're calling to dig into history, and since religious books are technically accounts (though very inaccurate) of what their writers witnessed and knew at the time mixed with superstition, it's always ironic to me how even the Quran never mentions Palestine and instead always says "children of Israel".

[–] deleted@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Children of Israel refer to a group of people by their beliefs not where they live btw.

It’s like saying I live in atheism.

The discussion isn’t who was there first. It’s about who was there when international law became established.

Lemmy is convinced they are witnessing a genocide because Hamas tells them Israel killed 345751 children. And they want to believe so badly they don't care about anything else.

[–] avater@lemmy.world 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It does look like this. And although the hamas is exclusively targeting civilians with only death and humiliation in mind and is not warning, supporting or relocating them, there are somehow not the real baddies here.

And no this is of course not an excuse for the civilian losses Israel is causing, those suck too...

[–] anteaters@feddit.de -1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

At least Hamas build a solid tunnel network for themselves instead of doing anything for the people of Gaza. No one gives a shit about the civilians but apparently the only baddie is Israel...
