I didn't think my cats would care, but since my dog died, Maze has been ... Aggressively affectionate. To the point that I need to shoo her away if I need any alone time. She wasn't this loving any time over her past fifteen years or so of life and didn't seem like she cared about the dog, but she's been completely transformed since then.

She is mourning. My cat did this. Her personality was forever changed after her sibling died. She became a lover kitty. The best girl ever.

Yeah, she's probably sad. If you only had the one dog and no other cats, she's probably lonely. Cats are actually social creatures and tend to need companions, so if she's all alone she's trying to get all her socializing from you. If this is the case you might want to consider adapting smoother cat about the same age.

I have three cats, one of whom I adopted in the same go as I did Maze. The other is probably a decade younger. Plus my wife, my kid and I definitely give her plenty of our time. She may be lonely, but she's not alone. Thank you though!

I’m sorry for the loss of your doggo. It’s never easy losing a loved companion. As someone else said, she’s probably sad
