A Houston woman's decision to throw a quinceañera celebration for her cat has captured the internet's attention and unexpectedly helped save a struggling animal rescue organization.

Miranda Gonzalez recently hosted an elaborate 15th birthday celebration for her cat Holly Marie Gonzalez, complete with a custom dress, mariachi band, and a remote-controlled Bentley for the grand entrance. The event has garnered over 21 million views online.

For me Its quite simple. My brain decided it. Literally. The days I found out I'm trans, my brain would do this weird thing, where I could think about completely different stuff and suddenly my now chosen name would "fly" into my mental Field of View, like an asteroid in star wars or so. I told that name a close friend and 4 weeks later when we went to the club together I told him, that I will stick with it, because I didnt had a better idea (and it was the only name I really felt comfortable with).

Never before have I seen such a fusion of hate and brainwashing unfold on TV. But much of it veers so far off into the absurd (think girl being accused of being trans in a softball game for the length of her hair and "being really good") that it's fertile ground for Oliver.

Have you seen softball players? There should have been no surprise here. I ... uh ... have a bit of experience. But pick the right complaint as scaremongering conservatives! They're not all transitioning ... anecdotally, they tend to marry their female boss at The Sports Authority.

This weekend I was able to play a Land of Eem one-shot. I like this system a lot! It reminds me of some of my favorite action-adventure media.

If you're looking for a ttrpg that evokes the same mood or vibes as ATLA, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, or The Owl House (just to name a few) then I couldn't recommend this system enough.

I was flipping through the rulebook and I was honestly very pleasantly surprised at every turn at how the game's creators balanced lighthearted, fluffier elements of the game and setting with grittier, crunchier elements that give the setting realism and depth. So far it seems to be everything I would want in a ttrpg (including a really detailed, already-keyed hexmap full of rumors and plot hooks!!!) It manages to evoke whimsy and wonder while remaining a dramatic, grounded low-fantasy game with real stakes. And it seems to have a really awesome crafting system too!

I'll have to see how it feels to run but so far it seems absolutely perfect.

An orange tabby cat named Suki became the first honorary feline graduate of The University of Texas at Austin. According to FOX 7, UT student Francesca Bourdier spent most of her college career at home like any other college student, on Zoom with her cat by her side.

Bourduer said Suki attended every class she had online so she knew she had to include the one-and-a-half-year-old cat when graduation came around.

Through a quick search online, Bourdier was even able to buy Suki her own cap and gown.

Bills focused on transgender people rose to prominence in 2016 with a North Carolina law requiring people to use bathrooms based on their sex assigned at birth (later rolled back). By 2021, the number of bills climbed with a new emphasis on transgender athletes' participation in school sports and, later, on restricting gender-affirming treatments, especially for minors.

By 2024, some advocates on the other side thought the effort had peaked. A group that opposes restrictions on transgender people, the Human Rights Campaign, issued a report last year declaring it, "increasingly clear that the tide is turning and momentum has begun to shift" against these bills.

But later that year, Republicans saturated campaigns with ads about gender, including attacks on Biden administration policies. The Trump campaign highlighted the issue in ads in swing states. Down-ballot candidates picked up the message, too.

The American Civil Liberties Union tracks "anti-LGBTQ bills." The group says the bulk of them contain restrictions on transgender people and that a record 575 bills had been filed in states through April. Last year, there were 533 and there were 510 in 2023, according to the ACLU, which opposes such laws.

Flooding the zone with "shit somewhere else."
