Christmas has gone too far! I will defend Halloween with my life!

Carly Hoy is among eight staff challenging an "inclusive" policy which allowed a female-only changing room at Darlington Memorial Hospital to be used by a biological male who identifies as a woman.

I'm not at all surprised to read something like this from British media, but it's still appalling to see a public broadcaster spreading hate and pseudoscience. Even the quotes around "inclusive".

Thanks for the detailed explanation, these are very personal and intimate experiences and I appreciate it a lot when people like yourself share them to help others! 💜

For me I can even get nervous about getting IBS, and that can make my IBS more likely.

Yep, I do that too, it’s very frustrating.

I do think my IBS is better now too with estrogen and especially because my mental health has improved generally. I suspect that it got worse again recently as a side effect of the ADHD medication I was testing (methylphenidate/Concerta). Can’t know for sure of course since correlation does not imply causation, but it has improved after switching to Elvanse/lisdexamfetamine (still titrating though).

I probably won’t have mine for at least 1-2 years but this is very helpful, thanks! I’ve got my first appointment next week :3

The “bleeding from toilet use” section is bad news for me as an IBS girlie, I should probably work on improving my diet more before the surgery 😬

Because you specifically asked about sperm, the effects of HRT are (mostly) reversible in that regard, particularly if you haven't taken HRT for long.

While this is true I want to reiterate that if you want children it’s best to assume that HRT makes you permanently infertile and take precautions accordingly. And if you don’t want children you should assume it doesn’t affect your fertility and still use contraception.

This way you’ll be safe either way.

I enjoyed looking at this cat, thanks.

I've been on HRT for 2 months and I still have doubts occasionally. But then I think of stopping HRT and going back to how it was before and it fills me with absolute terror. That really helps with the doubts.

Deciding whether to start HRT in the first place was a bit more difficult, but it helped to realistically compare the two options. I could either start HRT and have a small probability of finding out it wasn't right for me and regretting it. Or I could do nothing, but I already knew that I would regret that decision for the rest of my life. So I went with the better odds!

It can also just be hard in the mental sense to push yourself to get something you need, like going to the dentist or whatever.

Wow you really didn't need to call me out like that :P I've just started HRT after like 10 years of suppressing my feelings and I'm currently also putting off getting my wisdom teeth pulled. But thanks and good luck to you too!

You seem to think that it's only okay to start wanting bottom surgery years after transitioning but I don't see why that should be the case. Knowing I most likely want to get bottom surgery even though I'm somewhat scared of it actually helped me get over my doubts and start transitioning in the first place.
