It happens yes, but it's more common in zoos.

Zoos are gross and inhumane. This is type of behavior happens when animals are kept in captivity and it's really gross to portray the zoo as the "nice" party for giving a 10€ plush as a replacement mom.
It's much more likely to occur in zoos.
