We've got a void who loves all kinds of confined spaces -- boxes, bags, kitchen cabinets, bedroom closets, under the bed... We're always having to search the house to find her new nap spot.

But her favorite thing is to be petted in the bathtub (not unlike a box). She meows for you to follow her to the tub, meows to indicate you need to put down a towel for comfort, then jumps in and meows for you to get in, too. Nothing makes her happier.

We've always referred to this behavior (getting up somewhere just to look down on everybody) as "gargoyling."

Upvoted, but God damn this cut me deep.

Here's something a little more verbose to tack on, which helped me a lot through a similar time:

Yes, death. Death must be so beautiful. To lie in the soft brown earth, with the grasses waving above one's head, and listen to silence. To have no yesterday, and no to-morrow. To forget time, to forget life, to be at peace. You can help me. You can open for me the portals of death's house, for love is always with you, and love is stronger than death is.

- Oscar Wilde, The Canterville Ghost (1887)

I had a cat named Kiki years ago who was a doppelganger for your Sesam... Truly one in a million. Was nice to see a little echo of her today. Hope you all are living your best life!

Sweetest 20 year old baby I ever saw.

Sorry for your loss. Your Abbey looks an awful lot like Kiki, who I lost years ago now, and who had such a profound impact on my life. I found this poem then, and it helped me a lot in getting through that very difficult time.

Death must be so beautiful. To lie in the soft brown earth, with the grasses waving above one's head, and listen to silence. To have no yesterday, and no tomorrow. To forget time, to forget life, to be at peace. You can help me. You can open for me the portals of death's house, for love is always with you, and love is stronger than death is.

Cute. Coincidentally, Mastodon's "Steambreather" might be favorite song of theirs.

"The pain I feel now is the happiness I had before. That's the deal."

- CS Lewis

It's so hard to lose someone you love, but it's written into the contract from the moment you let them into your heart. I've lost a couple cats now, and when I feel myself getting sad while thinking of them, I allow myself that moment to process, but then am sure to remind myself of how lucky I am to have had something in my life that was so great that it could still make me feel that way, years later. It takes time to get there, but I think it's what they'd want.

My condolences to you, Momo is a true beauty.

You're trying, and that's more than anyone could have asked for. To love is to mourn. It's hard to open up a part of yourself, knowing it could hurt you later, but you're doing it, and no matter what happens, you've made a difference. Good luck.

The only thing I like more than a good cat picture on the Internet, is a good cat picture with a good cat story on the Internet. Animals are great, especially cats. And these are some especially good ones! Thanks for sharing.
