Generally uncommon and rare things just need a good story justification worked out between the player and GM. Some rare feats and items and things are really only useful in the specific adventure they were made for, but i think of uncommon/rare as just guidelines for GMs to determine how appropriate things are for the setting.

I hope I understood your question correctly.

Pathfinder did away with alignments completely though

Follow the Leader in PF2 solves this gracefully as well

Little mustache!

Yea you got it pretty much right.

Player Core is the newest edition remastered book for the basic rules of playing the game.

Player Core Pocket Edition is the same, but much smaller and paperback. It's handy as a reference, but honestly the print is too small to read comfortably.

Player Core 2 is basically an expansion, in the same way that Monster Core 2 is an expansion on Monster Core. Notably it features new ancestries, heritages, backgrounds, classes, spells and items.

The Core Rulebook came out before the remaster. The rules are basically the same, but some things are simpler post-remaster and there's a few different options they added/removed between the Core Rulebook and Player Core. It's all 2nd edition, but this would be considered "legacy" content.

Y'all could have saved me the clicks if I had checked here first. I just went through this same thought process

Very cool! I've been listening to Find the Path for a couple years now, but I haven't really branched out into other pathfinder actual at podcasts.

I find the many pantheons of the pathfinder universe to be pretty diverse and well thought out personally. Much more dynamic and interesting than the forgotten realms pantheon.

Is this just based on the player core or are you using a character builder app? Pathfinder generally provides a lot of flexibility in terms of which builds are viable. Without pulling out a book to check, I suspect that the "key ability" is more of a suggestion than requirement.
