Your cat drinks coffee????

Found this one online while browsing for what cats shouldn't eat. However I feel like this area is quite controversial and opinionated. Also feels like half the websites are written by AI and riddled with ads. So if anyone has a good source as to what cats should avoid then let me know.

Anyways, I found this nice illustration, but wanted to hear with you peeps whether you have any experience regarding these food items.

Also what's your take on milk/sour milk for cats? My previous cat loved it so much, and she aged until she was 17 years old, and never seemed to have a problem with it. Also asked the vet at the time and she said it was OK. However every other website I visit tell to never give milk(dairy) to cats. So which is it? Does it just depend on the cat?

No not at all, this is a forest cat breed, most typical in my country. They just have beautiful long fur during winter and during summer they shed some of it off.

Cat Litter Issue (lemmy.world)

I do feel a little silly for asking about this, but here we go...

So, about one month ago we adopted a little kitten, she is now 3months and a bit old. Been having her inside for the most part with some occasional walks outside to get her used to being outside, as she is an outdoor breed and will eventually be allowed to walk freely in or out. For as long as she is for now indoors, we've gotten her used to using the litter box, one of them with a small hatch to get inside, which she is good at using. BUT, whenever she decides to to curl one down, it f*cking reeks, it smells quite bad. I've had other cats before and none of them have smelt like this... Obviously we get rid of the shit asap, but then also clean her with a wet cloth so that she run around smelling equally bad and to teach her to was herself.

We're not feeding her anything unusual, she mainly eats this dry food(which was quite expensive) https://www.specific-diets.co.uk/cat/everyday-diets/kitten-fpd-gb. Furthermore, we're using some silicon cat sand, as that was what we got recommended.

Edit: Forgot to add an essential part to this!

This is the litterbox in use; Litterbox

She tries to dig her shit down, but instead of digging it down into the sand or put sand over it, shes just scratching the sides of the cat litter box. Also after going out of the litter box, shes wiping her paws on the floor. But yeah, the scratching of the box inside is very loud and doesnt seem normal either. Is the box too small for her? Or could this be related to the sand of choice?

So, anyone got any tips or tricks here? Is this normal-ish? Obviously shit smells... but this seems almost out of the ordinary... Does the type of cat sand matter a lot?

Promised an update so here it is! 2 weeks ago I asked around for some authentic cat toys, and got loads of great suggestions for what to get the cat, appreciate all of them! ☺️ Our newly adopted Nori arrived just a few days ago and we couldn't be happier! She's full of life and it only took here a few minutes the get comfortable in her new home. Amongst the favourite toys are:

  • A Paper Bag, as seen in first picture. This was from last weeks Vietnamese Takeaway, wasn't even planing on keeping it but she gets the zooomies everyone she starts playing with or around that bag. So that's a keeper.
  • Wine corks! Got a few of those ones saved up for different use cases. Also tied on to the Cat tower we got here, which has seen a lot of use already.
  • Cardboard roll (remain of a toilet roll) is another great winner.
  • The casual small balls with bells inside of them.
  • The carpet. Our carpet is light enough for her to lift and she loves this. When she gets the zooomies she spins underneath the carpet one end and comes out the other end, love seeing this!

With all the playing comes a lot of sleeping too, and she will literally fall asleep in our arms when carrying her, which is very adorable. Although she prefer to sleep in the tippy top of the cat tower.

Thanks for all the tips and discussion in this community, learnt loads from others and can't wait to contribute with silly and cute cats pictures now too 😁

Here are a few more gems:

Huge money saver by making own certain scratch pads etc.. Just gotta attach this to a round and heavy piece of plank and voila! Reletvily easy to do and the rope is cheap as chips!

Great news! About to adopt a new cat!! Super excited and can't get to get her (pictures to come). Although I want to prepare the house with some toys and stuff for the cat to play with and enjoy. What has worked well for you? Any toys in particular? Cat trees worth it? Hit me with your best recommendations! 😻
