If your entire concept relies on the graces of the DM, it isn't a good concept.
A DM could let a level 1 wizard cast meteor strike if they wanted, nothing can stop them.
Or maybe just a bowl that doesn't hurt their whiskers?
Of course! They win when they have fun :)
Doesn't matter how OP your character is, they can't defeat the cosmos.
It does however matter how OP your character is compared to the other players. Don't want power imbalance, so I make the rest just as OP.
Probably bad stats and not worth even selling them.
And just because it isn't consistent doesn't mean it isn't fun for everyone either.
The point of playing games is to have fun, the rest is secondary. This includes rules.

People who pretend their pets are their children are awful.
That isn't lame, that is just a different playstyle.
It is more fun, you should try it sometime.
