Pepper was named by my mother-in-law. The cat was black and peppercorns are black.
Ludo was named for the big scary beast in the movie Labyrinth. He was a shelter dog and was very afraid of doors. In the movie, Ludo was afraid. That's how the dog got his name.
It's a tree which produces little berries that can be dried and used to season food and such
