Cat yoga pose #4, upward-facing blender.

Yeah, this is my cat's fight-play stance. Because he knows we can't resist the urge to come over and give him some light head and face strokes when he's laying like this. And at that point he's like "ALRIGHT! IT'S FUCKING ON!" And he starts grabbing the hand with his paws and mouth.

Would 100% risk grievous bodily harm to pet the belly.

When my cat does this it means "I feel safe around you but don't you fucking dare and touch me"

I get to bury my face in two cat bellies. I'm so lucky.

Ottering is 100% ocular manipulation

Of course they do, that's why they do it.

My Jack Russell Terrier does this too. It's good for unlimited free belly rubs.

Your Jack Russel terrier probably doesn’t attack you when you give it belly rubs.

[–] psycho_driver@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Nope but what's a little blood between pals?

[–] starblursd@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 month ago

My calico does this when she wants belly rubs unlimited belly rubs... I think my cat is broken

[–] other_cat@piefed.zip 5 points 1 month ago

My cat knows it, it's the pose she takes when she wants me to give her dinner early.

There is a theory that cats evolved the sound of their miaowing to trigger the same part of the human brain that reacts to a baby's crying. Manipulative little fucks.
