If you just gave them the box, they would ignore it just to spite you.

You buy them to get the boxes they come in. Du uh
Mine will only play with the white translucent caps of cheap bottled water packs. The half-high plastic saving kind. No other variation is accepted.
I just bought that same cat bed!
With mine it's a coin toss between the box and the plastic wrap inside.

Milk bottle rings, twist ties and boxes are what our cats play the most with. The only upgrades we make are scratch boxes, so they can hide, play and scratch.
