Sometimes organic compounds can be completely destroyed by too high or low temperatures (as in, a chemical reaction occurs that permanently turns it into something else, so returning it to normal temperature doesn't fix it). I don't know to what extent that's true for your hormone drug, but I'd guess that heating it up above room temperature is probably an even worse idea than letting it freeze.

They undergo terminal heat treatment for sterilisation purposes. I think to 120°C but I might be wrong about that. Most hormones are stable at low temperatures (biological materials are routinely stored using liquid nitrogen) but sometimes chemicals will fall out of solution at low temperatures.
