I'm conflicted. On one hand, you are absolutely correct that 'used' is disrespectful.

On the other hand, I call my cats worse things all the time.

When I'm doing mental roll call (to make sure I've not trapped one somewhere), i call them

  • dog 1
  • cat 3
  • dog 2
