Eating string can be fatal for cats. Our cat has a giant scar from one when she blew up like a balloon after eating string and it getting tangled

Yes, and if your cat has a string in the butt, cut it, don't pull it. If the cat starts vomiting or having diarrhea (with the string), it's vet time.
