They’re desperately trying to distract from the fact they just wiped out a 1/5th of the value of the stock market, and so they’re throwing red meat to the culture war crowd by backing over the people they’ve already run over

Step one: target a marginal group, push the public in to cruelty so as to make them complicit.

Step two: target a less marginal group and use the public’s complicity in the last to prevent them from pushing back.

That would require an act of congress, which, while not impossible, is very unlikely given the current situation. some congressional republicans are pissed at him right now, and they have an extremely slim majority, so any defections on such a vote would prevent it from passing.

I don’t think he can, just due to the way it’s set up. Like, it’s not something that can be bought, and it’s not something the executive branch has any ability to unilaterally effect.

I think to some extent this cadre is swinging at ghosts. They were presented with inconvenient (to them) truths and rejected them. Now they construct increasingly elaborate and nonsensical alternative reasons for things being the way they are. The consistent observable realities they are encountering get written off as malicious tools of an imagined enemy. So they lash out at anything that contradicts their world view, especially when it’s evidence based and not just opinion.

It’s a fight that will never end, because they live in reality, not their idea of it. This isn’t to excuse their behavior but to say that they’re not just evil and mean or carrying out some carful plan. They’re very much making things up as they go and picking new fights as they hit roadblocks. If left in power, they will slowly destroy everything attempting to make the world fit their preconceived notions.

I got a comforter draped over my desk, making a little cozy spot under it where there is a little oil filled radiant heater and many fluffy pillows. I tuck my chair all the way in and pin the blanket behind it, keeps me super cozy without having to blast the heat. Also beeg sweater.

So, it’s not exactly easily available for workout purposes, but, much like antibiotics, aquarium and fish farm suppliers are not bound by the normal laws of pharmaceuticals but are bound by food safety to make sure the stuff is pure and uncontaminated.

Yah, nah JK has gone right off the deep end like Kanye and musk. Fell for the same shit teenagers on tumbler, twitter and Reddit were falling for 7 years ago.

Honestly, don’t think anyone should be giving her money at this point, but the franchise is kind of bigger than her at this point. I won’t pay for anything that would end up giving a cent to her because I know what she’ll do with it. She’s a dead weight on the community at this point.

I can’t engage with the properties in good conscience anymore. I was never as in to it as some other people were, and if that’s a big part of your online identify and community it’d be hard to break from it. I get why people get defensive about it, but like, maybe they shouldn’t take it personally when people criticize giving money to one of the biggest names funding transphobic rhetoric?
