I believe Brian Murphy said you can write that backstory for a D&D character and make it work if it's a comedy and all of that greatness is just in your character's head. I don't get to play much but tried to take a similar mindset: my character isn't as badass as they think they are.

I forget the exact quote, but one goes something like "the key to successful communication is an agreement on the definition of terms/words".

You can't discuss something if the word were using for it means different things to both of us. If I use dopehead to mean just an idiot and you use it to be someone who smokes weed excessively, we'll sound similar but then communication will break down.

So people do use more specific terms for more specific definitions when the other definitions don't fit, but I don't think the response should be "stop making new words."

I may be dating myself as an older weeb with this reference, but Osaka from Azumanga was not what you'd consider intelligent, but she got riddles instantly because she just thought weird.

A Google search (ai response, so take it with a grain of salt) suggested a 5 person party could take a dragon with 136 hp and 18 a at levels 8-9 comfortably. 7-8 would be hard, 5-6 would be very difficult but possible. Depends on the DM too.

Note I don't play much 5e, and my experience in TTRPGs outside a few single session stuff is mostly one Pathfinder 2e campaign currently at level 6.

Yeah, maybe I said it a bit too harshly but that's more of what I meant by saying basis of. You can take something that has some truth (after all, humans do have some things that would absolutely fit into essentialism) then make it so ubiquitous that you start applying it to things that don't fit it, like inclination to commit criminal acts etc. The issue is in the degree to which it is applied, not necessarily the belief itself.

Until it gets to polyamorus drama, and one decides to break up or get jealous of another one.

Essentialism... hmm I thought I kept up reasonably well with knowing about bigotry but this one is new, unless I know it by a different name. Lemme look it up.

Oh, the basic ideology that makes people think eugenics is good and is a huge basis for a ton of other bigotries.

They could be pansexual polyamorus(sp?) changelings that are all attracted to each other.

Not always as great as I want it to be. A lot of these comments were from years ago and the people I've talked to about it most recently do agree, but I remember some saying stuff like she doesn't get that much of the money or some other dismissive argument, some just avoiding the subject, and some agreeing. This was before she was really public about using her funds to actively hurt trans people like the donations she's made since, so it was harder to make arguments that buying her stuff still hurt people, though I did try.

Several fantasies just give em required secondary powers. Griffins use wind magic. Dragons use some form of antigravity or flight magic.

Iirc in Stormlight, the ... gigafauna?(Googles and finds it has been cooked for how I want to use it...huh) have gems in them that allows em to sorta reduce gravity in order for them to be able to survive at such a size (the planet also has lower gravity than earth,at 0.7G)
