Oriental shorthair. They sound very unusual too.

Under that criteria, there are a grand total of zero areas that can accommodate them. Same goes for dogs.

But that's a stupid criteria, because cats are tamed, and thrive indoors.

Hope that helps.

If someone intentionally caused harm to any of my cats, I live near a large national forest, and once you get a few hundred yards off a trail, no one is going to find a body.

Who tf gets a pet cat and doesn’t let it outside?

People that love their cats and don't want them to die young. Outdoor cats live an average of 2-5 years, indoor-only cats live an average of 10-15 years. By allowing cats outside, they're exposed to pathogens, parasites, and dangers that they wouldn't otherwise experience. In my area, there are coyotes, bobcats, rattlesnakes, hawks, and owls, all of which will quite happily make a meal of a cat. There are also cars; they don't tend to be able to stop on a dime.

Beautiful Cornish Rexes! We have two also! (Along with 3 Sphynx, a Lykoi, one Manx, and a Siamese.)

What are their personalities like?

TBH, with almost all of my cats--currently 8, but easily 30+ over my life--it just being in the carrier. If they're allowed to roam the car while you're driving, they tend to stop screaming. You do need to get them in a kennel before you open a car door or window for any reason though.

That's a super-cute white Cornish! I can't tell if the tabby is also?

Freya (lemm.ee)

Meet Freya, a 2yo Cornish Rex. (Not to be confused with Freyja, our 8mo old Lykoi.) We drove 12.5 hours to pick her and her step-sister up, through the tornadoes and storms that crossed Texas and Louisiana last week. We got Freya last week from a woman in Texas who had to rehome her beloved cats, Freya and Valkyrie (Valkyrie is a 2yo Sphynx that I haven't been able to get a good photo of yet). Their former caretaker felt she would be unable to take care of them because she was about to become a single mom. As in, she is due in about a month.

My partner and I don't know her exact circumstances, because it was't our business. However, this is exactly the kind of choice no one should have to make. Either it's a failure of healthcare--in Texas specifically, but also the US in general--to provide options for women, or it's a failure to provide adequate social safety networks. Regardless of why, she didn't feel able to take care of herself, her baby, AND her cats.

It was emotionally devastating to her; I can't imagine having to give up any of our cats, for any reason.

Both cats are still adjusting. Valkyrie is an outgoing, energetic, busy cat. Freya is quite a bit more fearful, but very friendly once she warms up; it took her two days before she stopped hiding and would even approach u. Now six days later, her playful and affectionate side is just starting to come out. I'm sure that they both very much miss their mom.

This brings the total number of cats we care for up to 8 again.

Cornish Rex?

[–] HelixDab2@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

I'm fairly confident that that cat is a Lykoi. It's a very new breed of cat; they have guard hair, but no undercoat. So far, they're believed to be a very hardy breed with no known health issues (unlike, say, Sphynx, which have a high rate of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy).

"Gunslinger" is largely going to be after 1865, after the US Civil War. Revolvers as we know them in the old west only existed after the 1850s. The first revolvers that you would call a revolver would be about 1835. So you don't really have the overlap for French privateer, unless it's a former privateer.

To be fair, the Winklevoss twins are every bit as awful as Zuckerberg is. They still got filthy rich too, just not as rich as they would of had Zuck fulfilled his agreement with them.
