Kinda hate I had to check this wasn't AI generated, but there's enough out there that I'm fairly convinced it's real

I found out about them about a year ago thanks to Lemmy, funnily

I was wondering why one of the Aussie instances was called quokk.au

Since visiting Japan, I've come to realise half of the whimsical stuff in Japanese media isn't just great world building, rather it's often inspiration taken directly from the author's surroundings.

Legit this is a fantastic idea

Unfortunately I can't seem to get it to work for any sound with my hodgepodge of an English accent. Perhaps it could work with a very thick cockney accent, but the length of the vowel would be quite different between the two,

e.g. puhn and paahn

I didn't expect the unreal tournament dystopia, I've got to be honest

Especially when the 500ml measure already legally exists—y'know that bottle size you never see because what's the point of it

Holy shit the pint of wine measure is hilarious

They're definitely doing that to present as a success story and save face with the red faced express reader demographic.

Wahey, some bottles might contain an extra double shot of wine!

~~Not that I imagine anything was stopping wine makers from selling bottles that size, just not calling it a pint.~~

Edit: okay they couldn't before, but I still don't see many jumping at the opportunity to retool their bottling for a weird size they can only sell here

Putin definitely contributed massively, but this is a multifaceted issue without a silver bullet. Climate change affecting farming yields, post-COVID economic stress, governments repeatedly committing economic suicide, late stage capitalism eating itself, the list goes on.
