My parents had a nutter, that, if you had an orange in your hand, would turn on the puppy-eyes and watch with exquisite attention as you peeled it.
She wanted the pith. If, you managed a decent sized shell, she’d nibble the pith out of the peel leaving the zest.
She wouldn’t say “no” to a slice, either but the pith was what she really wanted.
