We're about due for a big war unfortunately. It's been long enough since the last big war that no one that was alive to experience it is still in power. The politicians we have today didn't live though it or were toddlers when it ended.
History repeats itself and the current crop of idiots we've got in leadership positions in places like Russia, China, Israel, North Korea, etc are unstable and most of them are getting old with nothing to lose. I honestly feel like it'll be a miracle if we're able to end all of the current conflicts without them escalating or spreading, and the posturing from North Korea and China against their neighbors doesn't help things either.
We're living in a period of time that is going to be very interesting to read about in history books a century from now.
